About Erika Masterson

I am much like every mom. I wake @ 6am to the sound of pitter patter feet, then a sweet voice begging for a cuddle or breakfast. I stumble to the kitchen, eyes blurry sifting to find a sippy cup lid. All I can think about at that moment is that cup of Peets coffee in the French press that my husband pressed earlier. My day continues with dropping kids at school with kisses and hugs. Then I am off to my studio to face another day of photo-shoots, computer work, and window distressing. Then I pick up the little ones at school with something to pacify them in hand for a quiet ride home. After dinner, homework and bath-time, it’s finally bedtime. I lovingly tuck my little ones in bed after reading a book or two, then I listen to them re-site in not so perfect words the prayers they have been taught…… They melt my heart.

I am more than a mom of 4. I am a child of God, a wife, a friend, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a teacher, an artist, a coffee connoisseur, lover of peppermint patties and margaritas (but not together….) definitely not! I am very sentimental. I save every piece of art my children create, and every Christmas card sent to my family. These are the things I hold close to my heart: Things that are worn, loved, had a purpose and seem to have a soul.

To me, photographs have a soul and a purpose. Their purpose is to be a constant reminder of those close to me, a memory of a special time or moment in their lives and mine. They are priceless in value, take me back in time, make me laugh, and bring tears of joy. Photography is about capturing the essence of the people who I love.
